Met Monday, and A Winner at Heart and Home

Welcome Back! It's Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch (thanks, Susan!) and also Room a Month over at Sheri's The Shades of Pink.  I had plans to show you one of the projects I've been working on this weekend. Well, the truth is I didn't get it done!  But, I promise I will show it to you on Thursday, and in the meantime I will show you the Metamorphosis that happened in the dining room, when I moved the new-to-us coffee table (see that here) to the family room. Because around here there is a domino effect - move one piece of furniture and everything else gets tweaked too!

This is what the dining room looked like before things got moved around. You can see that we have an open floor plan with a large space just off the living room (check it out here) that we use as our dining room:

Eventually we hope to expand this space on one side by about four feet when we relocate the stairs going down to our second level - but until then, I've managed to squeeze pretty much everything I need  in here.

The twelve foot slider opens up on to our back deck overlooking the yard and the creek. But we rarely use this door, (we have eleven doors to the outside in our house!) so I thought it would be okay to put a piece of furniture in front of it for awhile.

I keep most of my tablecloths and napkins in this little Eastlake dresser that I got for a song about a million years ago (well, more like 26).

But it was destined for a different spot in the house to make room for the trunk that was moved out of the family room.

I moved the dresser in front of the stair railing, where it will probably stay until Christmas time, when we move it again to make room for the giant Christmas tree that will go here. We have 22 foot ceilings in here, so we always look for the tallest tree we can find at the tree farm up in the mountains near our home.

I put a few trunks and things together to make a little vignette in front of the window, it looked kind of bare without anything here!

And then I moved the trunk again, into the living room, so I had to figure something else out....

So now I'm done in here for awhile!  The textures on the trunk and the wicker tray table are perfect for this time of year.

And the colors of these mums say it all:  it really, truly is Fall!

And now for the big announcement - the winner of my first ever giveaway extravaganza!
A big thank you to everyone who became a member of Heart and Home, and to those of you who left comments during the last week. I'm truly thankful for the support you've given me in these first two months of my blogging adventure. I look forward to carrying on, and hope to become a source of inspiration and creative ideas for everyone who reads my posts! (Which is what I get from reading all of yours!)
And the winner is: Nancy at La Chambre Rose. Nancy, as soon as you e-mail me with your address I will send your prizes right out to you! Thanks again everyone! Have a great day, see you soon.
Until next time,
XO
Heidi

I so agree with you--about the domino affect!! But it is fun, isn't it. It always amazes me how little or big transformations can make a difference. Love that dresser!
