I hope you had a nice weekend, and that all is well with all of you!
This was on the list, and I've been meaning to show it to you for awhile now.
Trying to get good pictures for all of you, my blogging buddies, has held me back from sharing this sooner.
I'm constantly reminded of my shortcomings as a photographer, especially when faced with a challenging situation.
But these next few pictures were easy to take:
During my shopping trip with Delores I found at Ikea:
A brushed nickel, three armed "faux crystal" chandelier.
Boxed up tight, and then wrapped and taped, and wrapped and taped again.
First all the plastic wrap and tape came off.
Which took forever, it seemed.
Then I masked off all the crystals, and the cord and chain.
This was a pain, and really did take a lot more time than I thought it would take.
Finally, I got it done, and started painting.
Out came the Krylon spray paint, in Ocean. Such a great color!
I sprayed, sprayed, and sprayed again.
Then I painted the chain, once, twice, three times. And then a few more times. And again.
There are many sides to a chain, I've discovered!
As soon as it was dry it was ready to hang.
Which was handled expertly by my husband, who installed it right in the spot where the old light fixture had hung.
Turns out we didn't need to use any of the chain - wouldn't you know it?!
All that chain painting for nothing!
At any rate, it's up and my daughter loves it.
She has been wanting one for a long time.
Going for that "hippie-bohemian" look in her very cool room.
Which I promised I wouldn't show you. Just the chandelier, nothing else! She's a girl who appreciates her privacy.
Now you see what I mean about the pictures.
The new fixture gives the room a soft glow, which is very hard to capture with my inadequate photography skills, especially when I'm up close and personal, and trying NOT TO SHOW the room.
I'm sure there's a setting on my little digital camera for "soft glow, chandelier", but I don't know it.
You'll just have to take my word for it.
I love it when that happens!

Excellent idea. I love IKEA! It is always such a treat now when I get to one...which I did last summer in Austin, TX! Great paint job!
Hi there!
I saw you on Metamorphosis Monday, glad I stopped in! I love your chandelier. The color is gorgeous! Now I need to go out & get a can of it myself! :)
That is a cool blue chandelier. :)
The chandi was cute before but super cute in ocean - I'll bet your daughter loves it!!
Heidi, I love the color you sprayed that with. Lot of hard work, but it looks great.
Painting is never as easy as we think it is going to be is it? It does look great though. Cool colour.
What a lovely chandelier! I love the color! And don't worry about the pictures, we can tell just fine how pretty it is. :)
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a sweet comment tonight too.
Love the chandelier! Photography skills?? Mine leave a lot to be desired! :)
Have a great week.
I love it...turned out wonderful!

Wow Heidi! I remember when you bought that, and you had a vision then what you would do with that chandelier! It looks fantastic. Does your #2 daughter love it or what! I think it turned out great. Nothing like a little spray paint to change the look. xoxo Delores
Hello Heidi
I've got a can of that Ocean color paint too - yours looks so pretty, I will use mine soon.
and I rather jealous of your trip to SF. We lived aboard Camp Pendleton when my hubby was a Marine. And once we won a trip to SF - I loved both places so much.
Heidi, it is great! So much wrapping, but worth the work..I love it! Thanks for stopping by my post and telling me about this. I'm now a follower!
I love that blue color! I'm sure your daughter does too. Happy Blue Monday, Heidi.
What a wonderful update~well done!
Love the color you chose for the cute little chandelier.

What a lovely chandelier Heidi. Nice colour too.
A small touch of paint added so much- I love the glow your lamp casts. Beautiful.

Hi Heidi, you did a great job on the chandy. No wonder your daughter is happy. I would be Too. It looks very attractive.
Hugs, Jeanne
I love the re do on the chandy, I just love chandeliers! We bought our first one for the dining room this year.
Very pretty Heidi!
Don't we just love crystal chandeliers? So romantic and glammy.
Over here I wear a boa and AG a smoking jacket with rhinestones and we dance to Lawrence Welk everynight under ours! :):) I know you have a boa and some slinky thing and do the same at 10 pacific time. Which explains why I can never get ahold of you then!
What? I dunno...feeling silly....
Do adore your project!
Thank-you for your kind note and I missed you too! You have a way of making a person feel loved. And that is a true gift!
love you back! Kelee
What a great find! I love, love the color you painted it.. my fave shade of blue. You did a fab job, thanks for sharing.
Blessings:)
Gwen
Honestly I'm not always a fan of chandeliers hung by chains because you can see the electrical cord. I like it as is! Maybe you can use the chain for another project?
I like the make-over... and with spray paint!
Great job... Karen
