Wednesday Gratitude #1 at Heart and Home

Hello there! Welcome to my very first party here at Heart and Home. Wednesday Gratitude is about celebrating any and all things that make you smile and your heart sing. I'm really happy that you stopped by, and hope you'll enjoy what you see. Take your time, look around, and remember to visit the links listed below. Enjoy!

When I think about things I'm grateful for so many come to mind: a warm, safe place to live, plenty of food to eat, clean clothes to wear, the support and affection of my friends, my health, and my loving family. I try to stay mindful of all the blessings I have in my life, and not to take any of them for granted.

Sometimes, though, it's the little things that remind me how lucky I am! These are the things that can help change my attitude when I'm feeling down and cheer me up on a gloomy day.

Because they make me so happy, I always have one or two bunches of flowers scattered around my home. I love to bring them home, snip their stems, and find just the right vase to display them in.

Daffodils are happy reminders of spring approaching,
and a low cost  pick-me-up on gray cloud-filled days!

They make me smile!

Tulips in the bedroom brighten up the corner of my reading/napping nook (see more here)

Their bright orange  is like sunshine,
and the color I painted my kitchen. (if you want to see more of that go here).

My life wouldn't feel complete without good books to read. I always have a stack sitting around, handy to pick up when I have a minute or two. To me, reading is like daydreaming! I love traveling to far away places, and peeking in on other people's lives.

Fresh flowers and books (especially old ones - you can see some of my collection here) are two things that I appreciate every day. It wouldn't feel like home without them ! On the rare occasion that I don't have flowers in a vase somewhere, things feel out of place to me. That's when I head outside to snip some leaves or flowering branches off the trees.  Some fresh greenery or a little bunch of stems from the grocery store propped in a pretty vase, and a cup of tea and a book from my personal stash or the library, make me a very happy girl! Of course, I could live without them, but I'm truly grateful that I don't have to!  I'm also thankful for and appreciative of you, my blog readers and followers. Thanks for being so loyal, for the all support, the help,  and the encouragement you've given me along the way.  Now, I want to know:  What are some of your favorite things?

I invite you to join the party - Remember to copy the shortcut to your direct Wednesday Gratitude post, and please link back to Heart and Home!

Until next time,
XO
Heidi

Your flowers are so pretty, Heidi and such a nice respite from the gloominess of winter.

You sound so much like me when it comes to books. I like having my shelves well stocked and ready for one of those rainy or snowy days!!

Oh I forgot, I'm sorry! I'm going to copy your button and put it on my sidebar to remind me.

I would have a list similar to yours right now. Just bought some beautiful tulips yesterday and I have a great book on my nightstand. :) Simple things are wonderful, aren't they?

Thank you so much for starting Gratitude Wednesday. It was so much fun deciding on what I am grateful for. I find myself being more aware of everything I do and touch and realize how rich I really am! Books, tulips, I understant totally.

Happy 1st Gratitude Wednesday Heidi! Sorry I'm late to the party, but here I am! Your daffodils are lovely and I too am grateful for a little bit of color this time of year. I think we are in for a sunny day finally. Thanks for hosting! - Delores @ Vignette Design

I love your flowers, Heidi! I have daffodils and tulips planted in the front of my house, and as soon as I see some green I get more and more eager for Spring.

Heidi,
I love, love the tulips! Of course the daffodils are beautiful too. Fresh flowers in my home just make me so happy! I tried to link up to your post, however, I cannot figure it out. *embarrassed smile* Anyway, I did post my gratitude list for today. I appreciate the opportunity to participate and hopefully, I'll figure this linky stuff out by next week!
