Something to Crow About: the 100th Post at Heart and Home

Today I'm Joining Show and Tell Friday, at Cindy's gorgeous "My Romantic Home".I hope you'll go say hello after you visit here for awhile!

Greetings all my friends! Thank you for stopping by, and a huge hug and many thanks to all of you for making my first meme so successful.  I appreciate everyone who linked in with their Wednesday Gratitude posts, and the visitors who left comments or just stopped by for a peek.  From now on I'll have  MckLinky up every Tuesday around 6:00 pm PST, so you can join in the fun! I'd love for you to link to the party and show us what you've got to be happy about! It's fun and wonderful to share every one's gratitude and appreciation. It really was uplifting for me to read all the sweet posts, and the kind comments here at Heart and Home. Thanks again!

Now, since we're all a bunch of hip blogging chicks, I thought I'd show you some of the chickens who've come to roost here! Some of you may remember this Tablescape, (click to see more!) posted in the  last days of a glorious Indian summer:

Somehow, my friends and family must have decided that I love chickens,
and that I needed a collection of them! I started receiving chickens whenever a gift-giving occasion arose.

Before I knew it I had quite a collection.
Now I have chickens up to the rafters in my sunny orange and white kitchen!
If you look closely, you can find them hiding everywhere.

These two keep watch from up high on the hutch,
along with an angel (part of an entirely different collection)
who keeps everything under control with her serene demeanor .

This big guy always looks angry. I don't think he approves of the rooster in the portrait,
perhaps they were rivals in the chicken coop?

This one looks a little perplexed, maybe she wonders why she needs to stand guard by the cookbooks, with an egg tied around her neck.

Two more big fellas seem to rule the roost!

While this hand blown glass chicken is small and looks a little shy.

I wouldn't want to get in the way of this one, it looks kind of angry!

Wise and confident, this one watches the goings on in the heart of the home - the kitchen.

And this one is, oh wait, that's a pig!
I'd better not let my friends see it, or I'll soon have a collection of those, too!

She does look awfully happy, though. Maybe because she knows she's the only pig around, and she gets along just fine with the all the chicks in this house!

Now, that was just silly! ( I guess I'm a little giddy cause it's my 100th post!) Thanks so much for stopping by. Hey there, don't forget to leave a comment and say hello. Also, I want to say thank you to Cindy, for Show and Tell Friday, at  My Romantic Home. You really don't want to miss Cindy's blog, it's so beautiful, and not silly at all! So click on over there after you let me know you were here! And come back here, for another visit soon.
I'm also joining Dipity Road for Friday - Finding Beauty. Thank you Claudia!
Until next time,
XO
Heidi

(this one's for you Miss M. Thanks for the inspiration!)

You have a great collection of chicks! It is probably a good thing I have run out of room, or I would have to start a collection of my own. :-) The last time I was at Hobby Lobby, they had some on sale.
Have a great weekend.

Hello Heidi! Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your lovely comment.

I love your chook collection-I have just bought a couple of "chooky" things myself so I think I might go back and look at your post to get some hints on displaying them!

Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes, Natasha.

It so happens with collections. You can't stop them from growing! I have 151 (my son keeps track) owls. Now that I've moved to a smaller home they sleep in a box under a bed. I just display a few and rotate them.

Have a great weekend Heidi!

Hi Heidi,

I just love your chickens and roosters. Everything looks so cheerful. This is the first time I have been to your blog. Little Miss Maggie is darling and your setting in the Redwoods is so inviting. Come by and visit me too. I'm not too far away in Idaho. Bentley says hi to Miss Maggie.

I have many roosters and a few chickens around my place and I too have one pig.
You know what they say about ham and eggs don't you? A daily job for a chicken and a lifetime commitment for the pig.
I have scooped up your blog badge, I was sure I had it before but it I don't seem to have it.
