As you can see, we don't get a lot of Fall color around here this early in the season. When the Japanese Maples finally do change colors they turn red and gold, and it is breathtaking! I look forward to that every year, and I'll be sure to show you when it happens.
But still, I think it looks really pretty with all the various shades of green. Soon these holly bushes will be covered with an abundance of bright red berries, which I use to decorate my house every year at Christmas.
This ring of fairly young redwood trees was planted in the back yard. There are much larger, more mature redwoods surrounding the property and in the hills all around us.
We also have quite a few giant California Oaks growing around us. The deck on our house has even been built right around two of them!
The view down our lane leads toward the main road - we live in a little valley that gets the cool ocean breezes during the day.
Early in the morning we usually get a lot of fog, especially during the late summer and early fall months. The fog and the tree covered hills are the perfect backdrop for my new-to-me quail weather vane (read all about how I rescued it, here). The real, live quail are in our yard every morning looking for food. In the spring I enjoy watching the mom and dad quail trying to corral all the little babies from place to place.
The sun is starting to shine through the trees - I think it's magical around here this early in the day.
This is the beautiful view I get to experience every day. I'm so grateful for the blessing of these surroundings, and for my life here on the redwood coast.
Now that we're done with our stroll, why don't you go have a quick visit with Cindy at Cottage Instincts. She's having her first giveaway and it's terrific. She creates wonderful homemade soaps, and her site is really lovely, I think you will enjoy it. Tell her I sent you!
Thank you everyone for stopping by - I hope you'll come back soon! I truly appreciate each and every one of your visits!
Until next time,
