Reflections at Heart and Home

It's that time again! Welcome  back for Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch,  and DIY Day at A Soft Place to Land. Thanks so much Susan and Kimba!
Today I'm sharing my latest most fabulous find - a large (3' x 4') mirror that I picked up at my trusty Goodwill for $12.99. Wow, can you believe that price! I'm so lucky I was in the store right at that moment, because I know this mirror would have been snapped up by someone else in a hurry if I hadn't gotten there first!

I knew it would be a very easy to get this mirror looking grand again. Just a little TLC, and yep, you guessed it - my favorite, the famous Krylon Spray Paint. Good thing I have a lot of cans tucked away in the garage for just such an occasion!

There was only one chip in the frame, which I fixed with some wood putty and sandpaper. Easy!  Then I scraped all the sticky goo off the inside moulding - what on earth had been going on there, I wonder?

A good scrub, and  a couple quick coats of satin black spray paint -

and then I went around the entire frame with my stiff stencilling brush and a little antique gold paint, to give some emphasis to the details in the frame.

Whoo Hoo! The frame is so big it was impossible to get any good shots of the whole thing. This gives you an idea:

I'm thrilled to finally have this hanging in the family room, (you know, the one with the coffee table - seen here) - there was a big blank spot just screaming out for it on one of the long walls. Now I have four mirrors in this room. That might seem a bit ummm - excessive to some.....

I think four mirrors is just about right, but don't ask me, cause I'm the one around here with the mirror fixation!  (There are three more mirrors hanging right around the corner from this room, in the dining and living rooms - go see them here and  here)  Maybe calling it a fixation is too kind -  it's more like an obsession, wouldn't you agree?!!

Oh, it's just so exciting getting something for practically nothing and making it look new and shiny again. I love it! Thanks for sharing in the fun - I hope you'll come back for a visit soon!
Until next time,
XO
Heidi

Love that mirror. You did a gorgeous job on that. If all the other mirrors look as good as that one, I would have an obsession too.

Girl, you're a woman after my heart...I'm a mirror-aholic! I have small rooms, so mirrors really make it feel larger. I'm loving what you did with yours....gor.ge.ous!

Wow, what a great find and it looks gorgeous in black! Is there such a thing as too many mirrors? I don't think so. =)
