Bringing the World to Heart and Home

Hello again! I'm very excited to share my latest treasure:

Here at Heart and Home we've got the whole world at our fingertips, thanks to this lucky find from Goodwill:

It was standing all alone in a dark corner, completely covered in dirt and dust. But for $10.25, how could I resist bringing this home?  I only had to think about it for a minute, before I paid and popped it into the back of my car.

This will give our home that Merchant-Ivory movie, "Let's have our drinks in the Library" kind of look, don't you agree?

Well, I know it will look a lot better when it's cleaned up a bit.

I'll start by giving it a good scrubbing, to get rid of all this dust.

Next, a quick sanding to remove the varnish and to get it ready for a fresh coat of paint..... (that's our little Miss Maggie, keeping me company)

But first, a coat of primer.

Now I can spray on some Krylon Satin Black paint. It's so quick to apply, and dries in no time.

Everything is right with the world again!

This globe is old -shall we go back in time and visit the USSR, or SIAM, or perhaps FORMOSA ....

It must have been lovely to travel back in the day when men always wore hats and ties, and ladies never went anywhere without their gloves. So refined and elegant....

Speaking of refined and elegant - I'm going to take my drink and sit in the LIBRARY for awhile, care to join me?

This is my Thrifty Treasure for Southern Hospitality, and also a fun Metamorphosis for BNOTP. Thank you Rhoda and Susan for hosting!

Okay, now before you go my friends.....I have some business to attend to:  I have technical questions for you. I would love it if someone could please let me know if my new button, which I worked so hard on for two weeks- actually works? I'd hate to be the cause of technical difficulties for anyone. Thanks!  Also, would any one of you know why I can't get my header picture centered on this site when I switch to Minima Stretch, but it works perfectly every time on my test site with that same template. I am getting very frustrated and have tried everything I can think of. If any one has any ideas I would appreciate hearing them - you can e-mail me with your suggestions.  I am trying to improve this site and make it bigger and better .....Thank you for your patience as I fumble around. I can't wait to hear from one of you more tech savvy than myself!!

Until next time
XO
Heidi

Hi Heidi,
Don't you love that you now own the world? What a rush that must be...lol. Very nice makeover. I'm going to go try your button, but I'm afraid I can't help you with that centering issue.

Please come by and say hello and I'll come back and let you know if I find a problem with the button.

Your button seems to work just great. I've displayed it on my blog. It just classed up the place :-)

Your header is perfectly centered. I have no idea how you made your own button would I love to know how to do that for my blog. My problem is that I can't always see all the photos on other peoples blogs? Not sure how in the world to fix it. Several people have given me input but I have had little luck. I probably touched one little button one day fixing photo sizes and poof I created a mess:) I should stick with playing with Flour:)

Your "world" is beautiful, Heidi! What a fantastic find...I would love to have on, especially now as I try to explain world events to my grands. Love the black. I don't think I would have thought to do that, but it's elegant. You must have fixed your picture, because it's now centered.

God bless!

Heidi...what a steal...I LOVE it! You are so worldly, my friend. Hee, hee...sorry couldn't resist. :-) Your header pic looks centered to me. I know that one thing that will cause it to be off center is if you upload a pic to your header and don't UN-check the "shrink to fit" box...that box should not be checked.
Thanks for a fab Met Monday! Still can't get over that awesome price and how beautifully it turned out! :-)

Neat globe! I love the makeover. :) Would love to join you in the Library for cigars and brandy (isn't that what they did back then?) ;) Visiting from Rhoda's party. :)
