White Bouquets and Daydreaming at Heart and Home

Hello again! It's a lovely afternoon here at Heart and Home. The sun is streaming through the windows as I enjoy my lunch in the kitchen nook.  I've gathered a little bit of food, some iced tea, and my "research" reading material- the latest Bazaar will let me in on the secrets- how can I look fabulous at any age?

I've put some sturdy yet lovely daisies (marquerite, or dellis hortensis) and campanula (campanula pyramidalis - also known as bellflowers) in a white pitcher on my table -- they are so bright and cheery.

I love how delicate the campanula look, yet they, too, are hardy and long lasting. In fact, in flower language the bellflower represents "constancy", while the daisies signify affection.

When I gathered this group of flowers together I unknowingly created a dazzling white bouquet which symbolizes beauty, innocence, and everlasting friendship!

The blossoms look even brighter when paired with my favorite blue and white linens.

I eat my lunch and enjoy the play of light against the white flowers, and how it brightens the table. The reflections of sunlight on the aqua glass candlesticks shimmer throughout the kitchen.

I relax, eat, read, and take some time to sit quietly and let my mind wander -

Examining the flowers more closely, I'm reminded of Thumbelina - these blossoms are like tiny bells, or little fairy houses!
I let myself daydream and reflect for awhile...the time passes too quickly --

-- I've no more time for fairy tales, or fairy bells! It's time to grocery shop, and dry clean drop, and pick up a hungry, tired daughter at school.   Why are the moments for fantasies  always so short?  Ah well, I'm thankful for the brief imaginary return to my childhood, the memory of tiny Thumbelina, and for the constancy of pretty, long-lasting, white bouquets .
Thank you, Kathleen, for hosting White Wednesday at Faded Charm Cottage.

And now, I would like to announce a fabulous give-away for you, my loyal blogger friends!  Be sure to come back and check in with me over the next few days for the details.
Until Next time,
XO
Heidi

I spend a lot of time daydreaming also...too much!! At least you were multitasking!

The flowers are beautiful. And I too remember Thumbelina. I had the doll. Thanks for bringing back the memory, Heidi!
