Recently,the four of us girls (my daughters, little Miss Maggie, and I) spent a nice afternoon wandering around Carmel . When I say wandering, I mean shopping and eating!
Who doesn't love all the colorful flowers everywhere?
Then time for a little lunch at an outdoor cafe'. Very tasty! Chicken Pesto Panini with a salad made from organic greens. Maggie had a bite of the chicken, she thought it was delicious.
Okay, enough sitting around, back to the serious stuff...........more shopping.
I saw this three tiered server at the Anthropologie. Isn't it cute? They were showing a lot of items made like this, for prices that were just slightly crazy, if you ask me. I think I can figure out how to make something that looks pretty close to this, for a more reasonable (like almost free) price. Stay tuned !
After looking in every shop, (just looking, not buying!) we headed to the beach for a change of scenery.That's Pebble Beach in the distance:
The sand is very white and soft here, compared to the beaches on the bay, where we live.
We ended our day with a sweet treat (some caramels from Carmel :)), and a little of this:
We always enjoy our time visiting Carmel,
and feel fortunate that we can get there quickly, whenever we want.
And then, it's great to come home to our own spot in paradise, here on the Redwood Coast.

I just love Carmel...we will be there in 3 weeks..we have rented a house in Pacific Grove and can't wait to walk on the beach in Carmel and shop in the village..can't think of a nicer place to spend time...I love your post, the flowers in Carmel are so beautiful! Sounds like a very enjoyable day and your lunch looks good. The tiered stand looks like it would be easy to make.
I think that's what Pottery Barn catalog and places like Anthropologie (which I've never visited because we don't have one around here) are for. (At least for the gals like you and me, anyway.) They're for pulling the imagination right out of us. Shocking us with high prices that make us cough a little. And then stirring us to recreating it in our own unique way!

I love it when I find people who have been to my hometown! I grew up in Mtry/Pacific Grove/Carmel.
I was a butterfly kid back in the ..60's.
Went to science camp at Redwood Glen. Don't know if it's still there in the Santa Cruz mts.
Love the photos and the memories...I'm now on the East coast...so different.
