It's a dry new day at Heart and Home! How's it going? I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was busy around here - we had a lot of fun celebrating my husband's birthday. And we had a break from the rain, hurray, so we even got a chance to get outdoors for awhile. We took a long walk up the road from our house and had a little visit with the alpacas and horses. It felt great to get some fresh air. The wild flowers are beginning to bloom. I love springtime, it's just around the corner...
Have you ever wandered by something about a million times, and then on the million-and-second-time, you notice it in a new way? That happened to me the other day. I've walked past this little angel, which hangs outside by the garage door, every day for about eight years.
Two days ago I really looked at her, and noticed how grungy she looked. The poor little thing had a big crack running up one side of her face! She was covered in spider's webs. She was a mess.
It was a warm day, so I decided to get out the spray paint and make some quick changes. I've been itching to do some painting and it was the perfect project for the few minutes I had in between the cooking and baking and getting things ready for my husband's birthday celebration.
While I was at it, I sprayed these plaques that I picked up at the dollar store. They were pretty ugly, but I saw their potential. I figured for a dollar each I couldn't go wrong.
What do you think? I've put them out on the deck under the plants.
As for the angel, well I think she looks so much better now, in my favorite stone textured Krylon paint.
Even angels need a makeover, every now and then!
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you'll join Heart and Home on Wednesday for Wednesday Gratitude. You can post about whatever makes you happy and makes your heart sing. Everyone is welcome!
Until next time,
XO

Wow! Those plaques and angel turned out beautifully! Unfortunately there are no dollar stores here where I live. For things like these I'd have to go to a vintage store and they would be excessively expensive!
Well done Heidi!
Hey, Heidi..this is also Heidi!
I'm visiting you from Cottage Instincts. I love your new angel makeover, and those plaques are just too precious. I love how you nestled them in with your plants!
Both turned out great. I have to try some of that stuff.
I just love the stone spray... my son did a house phone once...for his room...lol
great job!

Oh my gosh, I love that paint! Soo cool, thanks for linking up!
I have never seen that stone paint! That is awesome! She reminds me of figures you see in churches and graveyards through Europe. Very cool!
Wow that stuff looks fantastic - I've seen that paint before and wondered how well it worked.
Did that plaque really come with yellow edges? Good grief who in the world would think that looked good?
Both of those look so good! Thanks for the nice comment!
Your angel placque is just precious and so pretty with a new coat of paint. I can hardly believe the placques are the same. I havn't heard of the stone paint, but I will definitely look for it. Such a beautiful transformation. Hugs, Marty
I never heard of the stone textured spray paint. But I love how the angel turned out. I know what you mean about not noticing things. This post is making me open my eyes. I love what you did with the plaques. They turned out lovely and look marvelous in your garden. Well done!

Great redos! Really like the way the angel and plaques came out. I need to get some of that spray paint, as I have a few flower pots that need a little help this Spring.
I love the stone paint, too! I once sprayed some cheapo plastic urns with it..fun stuff! The angel looks old and interesting now...love it!
